Michael Fullan is giving a quick summary in this clip of the book Coherence: The Right Drivers in Action for Schools, Districts,and Systems. He co-authored the book with Joanne Quinn. Published by Ontario Principals Council & Corwin in early 2016. The book is a short but informative read of 138 pages. I think its a useful text for us as it examines components of effective leadership in networked environments and this exactly the future focused environment we are living in with Communities of Schools. Fullan & Quinn identify system drivers that dont work e.g. external accountability, individualism, technology & ad hoc policies. They contrasts them with the right drivers e.g. Having a focusing direction, cultivating collaborative cultures, deepening learning and securing internal accountability (and later external accountability). Each chapter of the book unpacks a component from the right driver list and there is also a chapter tying together leading for coherence. One of the strengths of this book is the use of infographics to summarize each chapter.
