Blog mid-point evaluation

Deirdre is now rounding off the first phase of the blog so that David and Donna can take us into the next phase. So let's look back and evaluate where we have come from and what we still need to learn.

1.  A blog was created for the team to use.
2. 15 members of our team joined Google+ and the TSL&A blog. For some this was huge learning with a public step into the digital landscape.
3. Thus far there have been 47 posts, 32 published and 15 still in draft.
4. There were 53 responses to other people's posts from 12 members.
5. I was asked to do a session on how we set up our blog and for what purpose to the participants on the CoL paper run by TS at Kohia. I outlined the setting up process, the difficulties and mistakes made etc and scrolled through some of the posts. I received an email a few days later from the Leader of the Waitakere CoL "Thanks for getting me started on Blogger!" She explained how she was a late starter into social media but she has now set up a blog for the Waitakere CoL  which "will provide us with a platform for some ongoing sharing of our learning as we embark on the COL adventure". You too can be doing this with schools & CoLs Where to next? 
6. Only 10 posts have labels. These labels enable people to find the information they want quickly rather than having to scroll through the increasing number of posts and responses. Please go back and label your posts and all future posts.
7. The blog isn't about you - it is about you connecting with an audience so make it easy. 
8. There needs to be a visual component to each post - so get to the essence with words.
9. Give your point of view and invite others to provide their points of view or questions ie create a discussion with you responding to comments others make.
10. Make the posts more dynamic! Look at the blogs on the blog roll. 
11. What do you think would make the blog more dynamic for an audience?
